Benefits of DIY Boudoir

If you’ve come this far, you might already be familiar with how much hiring a boudoir specialist can be! Taking your own boudoir photos is not only resourceful, but might save you some cash. Being your own photographer will certainly add your own personalized flavor to every shot, you are on your own schedule, and you have TOTAL flexibility and ownership over every step of the process. All it demands is your time and energy, and if you’ve got it, we say go for it.

Things to Consider Before You Begin

You’ll need to consider what you already have in order to determine what you’ll need. Do you have a handheld camera or are you planning on using your cell phone? Do you have adequate lighting? What are you going to wear or how will you style your hair? Having worked closely with our clients who have taken their own images, we can provide you with experienced insight on what worked and what hasn’t. And here is our little secret to you: you can pull off almost anything without breaking your budget! We want to get creative with you.

Steps to Starting Your DIY Boudoir Photoshoot

Do your research. Spend some time with a glass of wine surfing the internet on ideas and styles that you like.

Make a budget. Take 20 minutes to sit down with your budget to determine exactly how much you’d like to spend.

Take an inventory. Make a list of what equipment, clothing, cosmetics, and props you will want to use for your personal photoshoot.

Go shopping! Treat yourself to some sexy lingerie or that photography equipment that’s been on your wish list for this special occasion.

You are probably a natural at this, but it wouldn’t hurt to try a test run before you do the real thing. Try new outfits or poses, have fun with it!

Ensure adequate lighting for all of your shots. The last thing you’ll want is to get your images printed and you can’t see anything.

Play with your camera to achieve the desired focus. Check your lighting, equipment, and positioning for the perfect shot.

Check ‘em out. Review and select your favorite images on your camera, or even better, upload them to your computer and admire your work on a larger screen.

We highly recommend using editing software to add any final touches or your personal signature. Add some spice using fun filters or highlights.

Print and gift. Printing your photos can be tricky. You can print them yourself using your home printer, or find a printing company to design, print, and bind an album.

Find Your Style

Every person has their own style and degree of comfortability. If you are interested in taking your own boudoir photos and need some ideas, here is a good place to start. You can find everything from costumes and makeup artists, to props and lighting suggestions to get your DIY portraits to turn out looking like you hired a professional.

Add Some Flare

You certainly do not need to spend hundreds of dollars to make your DIY boudoir photoshoot extra special. We are here to tell you that very little can go a really long way, if you use it right. A single prop, a favorite article of clothing, even a special location to set the scene can really add flare and finesse to each and every image. This is your creative space to think outside of the box. It is your opportunity to show off your boudoir personality and become your own boudoir artist.

Tweaking and Touch-Ups

Almost there! Your hair looks great, your nails are polished, you dressed your best, and smiled seductively for the camera. Now it is time for review and refining your gallery. We recommend using editing software to tweak and touch-up the tiny details and adding your own personal touch to bring out the best in each image. From fun filters to lighting highlights, you can transform your raw images into something truly magical and worth framing. It is worth spending some time perfecting each photo to your desired standard. You’ll love it that much more for years to come.
